Keep it Clean, Please

First and foremost, it is important to remember that dust and dirt are the copier’s enemies. The particles can infiltrate the mechanics of the machine, increasing the chance of jams or even break downs. To keep it clean, turn the machine off between use and cover it with a cloth or copier cover made especially for that particular model. In the same vein, a piece of cheesecloth over the air intake will reduce dust and dirt particles that get into the machine. Replacing the air filter every week or so will help with that as well. If the machine has been sitting unused for awhile, remove the paper in the tray as it will most likely be dusty, and replace with new. It is actually a good idea not to store paper in the copier trays. Take it out completely if the machine will not be used for a time.

To keep moisture out of the copier, place some silica gel packets in the paper trays and replace them every month. Clean the glass optic area with glass cleaner and the feeder with soap and water every few weeks to cut down on dust and grime. Finally, a can of air is great to blow out dust from the inside workings of the machine.

By being proactive and taking some of these precautions, you will be able to do two things: ensure the copies you make are crystal clear as well as extend the life of the machine itself. A copier is a significant investment for a company. That’s why it is important to take care of it as such. If your company is looking for a copier in Sacramento, give us a call.
